- Water Fast for Haiti
Fasting has been a spiritual discipline for centuries that is often practiced during the season of Lent. No matter the form or length of the fast, the goal is always the same; each time we feel the hunger or craving, we remember our dependence on God. We recall the sacrifice Jesus made for us and give thanks.
This Lent you have an opportunity to fast in a way that provides for others. We invite you to fast from drinking anything but water at least one day a week. On those days, save the money you would have spent on drinks. Simply pick up a “coffee cup” bank by the Welcome Center in the Atrium this Sunday. Return your bank to the church on Easter Sunday, April 4 with the money you saved. Monies collected will be sent to Water Missions International which provides clean drinking water to Haiti.
In a real sense, what you deny yourself will provide for others.
